The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 在后期转制黑白，演员选了华金的情况下，却拍出了可能是颁奖季最温柔的一部电影。最大的优点当然是形式上的，纪录片式的采访贯穿始终，主要人物的表达也经常是站在受访者的视角。在主题上则有点保守，还是孩子和中年人互相取暖疗伤那套东西。不过在对原生家庭、亲子关系探讨越发极端的今天，这样菊次郎式的处理反而是一种另类了。

摄影和会画面格外舒服，也许不会有太强的故事情节或者戏剧性，但对比一下看看站在城市外来看城市还是蛮有意思
演的不错，故事平淡。当同一种东西变得司空见惯时，一般的石块无法激起更大的波澜。
